On 10/3/2008, we recorded and posted a pilot for “Beat the Street” on Radio CICN. For those of you who haven’t heard of this show, it began on Blog Talk Radio in March 2007 and grew steadily in listenership. During the past few months, we have been in discussions with contraryinvestorscafe.com about possibly taking the show and its content to their new internet radio lineup. Shows are recorded each Friday and will generally post Sunday. Content will center around the economy and financial markets and we will be having occasional guests offer their insights on these and other issues. For those interested in podcasting the show, please click the link below:

There are currently two shows in the feed – both contain important discussion on the recent financial bailout engineered by the Fed and Treasury and the consequences of these recent actions. For more information on this and other Radio CICN shows, please visit:

Bailout Information Kit

Over the past 3 days, I have compiled quite a few resources for the public to use with regards to the bailout situation, which is gathering steam as the financial crisis unfolds. We have now had the tab for a Fannie/Freddie bailout hung around our necks in addition to the billions needed to prepare Bear Stearns for rescue not to mention the additional billions pumped into the system through TAF and TSLF. This is far from over. FDIC and PBGC are next in line, followed by Social Security and Medicare in the near future.

Last Friday’s piece contains what can be used as an open letter to Senators, Congressmen, and the White House to decry the recent housing bill with President Bush’s signature forthcoming or to rail against future rescue measures. See last Friday’s piece below:

Last night’s ‘Beat the Street’ covered the same topic, giving listeners more details about the situation and what is likely to transpire moving forward because of the fiscal recklessness. Listen via the link below:

Today I was asked to record a segment for the new contraryinvestorscafe.com feature entitled ‘Soap Box’. I chose to speak about HR3221 and the likelihood of more bailouts as we move further into the crisis. It should be posted on 7/29/2008. I will follow-up with a link as soon as the piece is published.

Taking a 'Coffee Break'

I will be interviewed tomorrow for the next edition of contraryinvestorscafe.com’s weekly audio series ‘Coffee Break’.  We will be discssing strategies that may be used by investors during times of market volatility, especially given the fact that the more ‘safe’ investments are riddled with negative real yields. I will post back here with a link as soon as one is available. I would strongly recommend to anyone interested in these topics to listen to those weekly interviews. I’ve included a link to their site on the blog’s toolbar as well. My Two Cents will be entering into a strategic partnership with CIC very shortly. More details to follow as that gets closer.

Today’s market action was mostly quiet after some morning fireworks as the markets prepare for the release of all-important (sarcasm mine) FOMC statement tomorrow at 2:15 PM. I’m going out on a limb here and will say they do nothing rate-wise, but they’ll talk tough on inflation. That will cause the Dollar to bounce briefly. Let’s see how it plays out!
